Exhibition KOŠICKO-BOHUMÍN RAILWAY, Slezian part BOHUMÍN-MOSTY
We cordially invite you to a new exhibition opened from 2nd of October 2019.
From 2nd of October you can see the new exposure of the exhibition „KOŠICKO-BOHUMÍN RAILWAY, Slezian part BOHUMÍN-MOSTY“ on the first floor of the museum. It is a significant private track that connected Uhry across Těšín and Karviná with Prussia. It has largely contributed to the development of mining and metalurgy in Ostrava and Těšín. The exhibition brings yet unpublished new facts and documents. An integral part are also interesting moments from the construction of Jablunkov bridges in Jablunkov. The exhibition will last until May 2021, when we will remember 150 years from completion of the entire section of the track from Bohumín to Košice.
The Moravian-Silesian Railway Museum also opens two new exhibition spaces from 2nd of October 2019. In one room, visitors can see the period-equipped transport office of a dispatcher from the first half of the 20th century. You will be able to see not only security equipment, but also other items that belonged to the transport office, including part of the dispatcher's uniform.
In the next room there will be an exposition of signaling equipment and objects from track, locomotive economy and other railway branches. The devices will be adapted to interactive activities, if possible. Some types of equipment are still used in railway operation. The museum will also present a model of the basket signal, which was used in the first years of the 19th century railway operation. The typical crossing bell will also have its premiere and visitors can try out its sound.
On the same day, the Moravian-Silesian Railway Museum is preparing a ceremonial performance of the steam locomotive class 310.001 (Kafemlejnek), which was imported on 16th of August 2019 and located next to the station building at Ostrava střed station. The museum performed basic cleanup during the week and thus presented it to visitors during the cultural event Fajne léto on August 24th ,2019. Over three hours, the locomotive had over 400 children. After a month of professional cleaning and repairing the appearance of Kafemlejnek, will again be ready for public viewing. Further modifications will continue without restrictions for potential visitors from the museum. Of course there will be a regular tour of the steam locomotive by passers-by or passengers through the fencing.
